Research and case studies from my work with leadership teams.

My thinking on why alignment fails quietly, what it costs, and how leadership teams move from fragmented to cohesive.

Disruption, Leadership and the Alignment Advantage

Disruption is not the problem. Misalignment is. Organisations rarely fail because their strategy is wrong — they fail because their leadership teams are not aligned enough to execute it under pressure. In this paper I introduce The Cohesion Continuum™ and the observable signals of misalignment a CEO can act on.

  • Why strategy stalls between agreement and execution

  • Diagnostic questions for CEOs and boards
  • What changes when alignment becomes an operating system

  1. Fragmented

Leadership behaviour is inconsistent. Decisions vary by leader. Teams operate in silos. Execution is reactive and difficult to sustain.

  2. Functional

Basic coordination exists. Leaders align when required, but consistency is not embedded. Execution relies heavily on individual effort.

  3. Coherent

Shared expectations are clear. Leadership behaviour is more consistent. Decisions follow common principles. Execution becomes scalable.

  4. Cohesive

Leaders operate as a true team. Alignment is embedded in how the organisation runs. Decisions are fast and consistent. Execution is focused and sustained.

Case study

Strengthening leadership through values and behaviour alignment

Mid-sized organisation · ~250 people · 2025

The context

Following a period of rapid growth and structural change, leaders were operating with different expectations of what good leadership looked like. Decisions varied by leader and teams felt the inconsistency.

My approach

Rather than delivering an off-the-shelf programme, I built the work with the leadership team: pre-work, facilitated values alignment sessions, and leadership resources created in collaboration with participants.

The outcome

Shared guiding principles, a common language for leadership behaviour, and resources the organisation continues to use — described by the COO as 'built to last'.

The transformation in our team under Libby’s guidance has been extraordinary. What stood out was how practical her approach was — far from abstract theory, she provided tangible strategies that became embedded in our everyday operations. For any C-suite leader navigating team dynamics, Libby is the expert you want by your side.
